How to engage and educate the global product design community on material innovation?
Uber designed and built Formity, a community-driven platform connecting designers, brands and material experts. Users can share technical information and tips about materials, upload their projects and post inspirations.
Eastman powered the platform with their extensive material database, which has been used as core structure of the website.

BRANDING

The platform identity reflects the structure of the site: each section is represented by an icon and a key colour. The colour code also helps users to identify the different types of content in the homepage grid and across the site in general.

THE DNA TAGS

A custom tagging system links projects and inspirations to the material archive. Users can help the community tagging a picture with a material: "What's that made of?" is a recurrent question for product designers and the DNA tagging could become a powerful research tool for them.

UX & UI

Grid is the key UI pattern. We tried to make the experience the most visual possible, relying on patterns familiar to our user personas.
